Practical Exchange at the Fourth Advisory Board Meeting
In early July 2026, we held our fourth meeting with our advisory board and mentors. Once again, it took place online. We were very pleased that about ten members joined the call. The focus was on the presentation of a preliminary web application.
Before that, however, the participants discussed the project’s progress to date.
A review of the past two years highlighted the progress that has already been made. Dr. Hans Schipper, head of the project and of the South German Climate Office at IMKTRO, particularly emphasized the unique features of KommMa:
- From the very beginning, local government experience has been incorporated.
- The measures are analyzed in relation to one another, such as dependencies or conflicts.
- Emphasis is placed on scientific standards.
- The evaluation is designed to be as tailored as possible.
- The expected level of public acceptance of the measures is assessed.
Presentation of the Web Application
Later in the session, Yannic Flad, a computer science student and student assistant at IMKTRO, guided the participants through the current version of the web application. Using sample data, they were able to see how various measures are integrated into the tool, what relationship networks are stored, and how the data can be output.
A subsequent, in-depth discussion session provided ample opportunity for questions, input, and potential solutions. This direct and open exchange is extremely important for the success of the KommMa project. Feedback from real-world practice helps to ensure that the tool’s further development is as targeted as possible.

Twice a year, KommMa invites the advisory board members to a meeting. The next advisory board meeting in November 2026 will take place in person in Karlsruhe. We would like to thank the members of the advisory board and the mentors in attendance for their valuable input.
