Welcome, Yannic Flad!

The KommMa team is pleased to welcome a new member: Yannic Flad is a fourth-semester computer science student at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and has been supporting the IMKTRO as a student assistant since May 2026. Once a week, Yannic comes to the KIT Campus North to help with documentation and the design of the KommMa web application.

What he particularly enjoys about his work is the project’s practical relevance and the close collaboration between the various departments and institutes: “I’m happy to be a part of KommMa. I enjoy the work here, and it’s a real enrichment to my studies.”

A Practical Module as a Starting Point

Before starting as a student assistant, Yannic had already completed a practical module as part of the project. This allowed him to get a “taste” of the KommMa project and become well acquainted with the team, the project goals, and the requirements. Together with four other students, he programmed a website at the time and was specifically responsible for the results view and the front-end export function. He already had some basic programming skills to draw on. “We taught ourselves a lot during the practical module, too. It was cool to learn that kind of stuff,” says Yannic happily.

In his free time, the 21-year-old enjoys playing sports and advocates for greater climate protection.

We’re glad to have you on the team, Yannic!
